Teach one or more National Curriculum subjects to young people aged 11-18. We register Secondary Teachers who are qualified with QTS and registered with the EWC with various specialist subjects.

The Role of a Supply Teacher:-

For day to day, short-term cover, you may find that you are covering classes that are not your specialist subject therefore you would be carrying out the role of a General Teacher or Cover Supervisor, depending on the requirements of the school and your qualifications. As a General Teacher and covering lessons that are not your subject, you may not be expected to carry out 'specified work' but to classroom manage, maintain disipline and ensure that pre-prepared work is being completed by pupils. If you are placed as a Cover Supervisor, whether you are a Qualified Teacher or not, you would not be required to carry out 'specified work' but to classroom manage, maintain discipline and ensure that pre-prepared work completed by pupils. A School may request a subject specialist for short-term cover therefore you would be expected to teach your subject and carry out some aspects of 'specified work'.

Affinity Education proactively assists our registered Supply Teachers in securing you long term teaching posts. Generally long term cover is required to cover a period of maternity leave or long term sickness. Once you are placed within a long term booking as a subject specialist,  you would be expected to fully carry out 'specified work'. This means, planning, preparing and delivering lessons to pupils and assessing and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils. This may include attending departmental meetings and parent evenings.
